Le Havre

Two sides of Le Havre are shown here, the fountain in the gardens in front of the Hôtel de Ville (town hall) and a cargo ship in the docks.

The visitor is more likely to see ferries in the port, two views of the Pride of Portsmouth on the linkspan at Le Havre.  The P&O service has since ceased and LD Lines operate a more limited service.

Left: The Pride of Portsmouth and the Saint Killan 2 (which used to operate the former service to Rosslare) at their respective berths.  Right: No port is complete without tugs, a view of some of those at Le Havre.

More interesting to most tourists, the Pont de Normandie spans the estuary of the Seine close to Le Havre, on the left is the view from the foot bridge over the toll booths which links the service areas each side.  On the right the view from a car climbing up the bridge - when you first see it you wonder if your car will make it as it appears much steeper than it really is.
